Dr Michelle Ludecke
Role and Profile
Michelle Ludecke’s work centres on notions of becoming a teacher. Her PhD investigated first-year teachers’ experiences in their transition to teaching. Michelle employed a theatre-based research approach to analysing and representing participants’ firsts as moments of identity transformation. Michelle has a background in secondary dance and drama teaching, and has worked as a tutor and research assistant at Deakin University since 2006. Michelle is currently working as a tutor within the Bachelor of Education and Master of Teaching units. In addition she is developing and implementing a pilot program, using theatre-based approaches from her PhD to promote reflective practices in final year undergraduate students. This program aims to engage students in discourses concerning their transition to teaching. Michelle is undertaking a review of the literature for the “Studying the Effectiveness of Teacher Education” project.
